# Cloud Folder Configuration

Before creating additional Cloud Drive Folders, please consult please consult the [Global File System Architecture KB](/v1/docs/global-file-system-architecture). Creating unnecessary Cloud Drive Folders will increase complexity and management overhead of permissions.

1. [Login](/v1/docs/login-to-cloud-file-storage) to your Portal
2. On the navigation pane, select **Folders** and **Cloud Drive Folders**

3. Select **New Folder**
  1. Configure the Cloud Drive Folder
    1. Name:                      **PortalName*Descriptor***
    2. Owner:                    **ServiceAccountName**
    3. Folder Group:          **ServiceAccountName** or **ServiceAccountNameDescriptor**
    4. Quota:                      **Use Owner Quota** unless a specific quota value for the folder is desired
    5. Windows ACLs:      **Yes when creating an SMB share which will be integrated with Active Directory, No otherwise (NFS, SMB Local Auth)**

1. Once created verify the cloud drive folder on the **Cloud Drive Folders** page
