# Temporarily suspend alerts for a monitored server

At times you may wish to suspend alerts for a server that is already monitored by Operations CTRL. For example, if you are installing a new application over the next couple days and you expect unscheduled reboots might be necessary. To do this, simply create an "Ignore Alert" in the Expedient Support Management Console (SMC).

1. First, [log into the SMC](https://expedient.com/support/index.html) as you normally would
2. From the **Resources** menu, select **Ignore Alerts** ![](https://cdn.document360.io/69e9f9c7-5da8-45e7-a671-4b8287f36122/Images/Documentation/Ignore%20Alerts.png)
3. On the "Ignore Alerts" page, click the green **Add** button![](https://cdn.document360.io/69e9f9c7-5da8-45e7-a671-4b8287f36122/Images/Documentation/Add%20Ignore%20Alert.png)
4. Now choose the appropriate variables. In most cases this is simply **Starts (EDT), Ends (EDT),** and **Devices.** In the Devices field just start typing the name of the device and select from the list. NOTE: Ignore Alerts should not last longer than 7 days. If you need to extend an Ignore Alert longer please create a second Ignore Alert.![](https://cdn.document360.io/69e9f9c7-5da8-45e7-a671-4b8287f36122/Images/Documentation/ignore%20alerts%20choices.png)
