# vGateway Access Based Enumeration

A vGateway can be configured to utilize Access Based Enumeration on CIFS/SMB shares. This functionality is useful to hide shares from end user view when they do not have the permissions to access the shares.

1. [Login](/v1/docs/login-to-cloud-file-storage) to the vGateway
2. Select **Share** and then **Windows File Sharing**

3. Locate the **Hide unreadable files and folders** setting, **check** the box, and select **Save**

4. Access Based Enumeration is now enabled for the filer, when an end user does not have the appropriate permissions they will not see the folders/shares
