# vGateway Automatic Updates

When deployed by Expedient staff, a vGateway will be configured to perform automatic upgrades from the Portal. Change Controls with advanced notification will occur prior to making a vGateway update available in the portal. The vGateways will also be configured to automatically check in with the Portal, download/apply the update, and reboot the following Thursday between 3:00-4:00AM to boot to the updated vGateway version.

If a vGateway has been deployed by you or your team, by default the vGateway will immediately apply the update and reboot. You will need to reconfigure the automatic updates to ensure the vGateway reboots at an acceptable time. You may also chose to customize the time of the reboots or modify other behavior as you see fit.

If you chose to configure a vGateway to not update automatically, you will be responsible for updating the appliances as updates are pushed via the Portal.  
  
If you chose to configure a vGateway to not restart automatically after an update, you will be responsible for performing a vGateway reboot.
