# vGateway Deployment

## Deploy the vGateway Template

1. If deploying within EEC, [log in](/v1/docs/how-to-access-enterprise-cloud) to your portal.
  1. Select the **VDC** you wish to deploy to
  2. Select **New VM**
  3. Enter the appropriate **name**, select the **Edge Filer** template, enter the pertinent network information, and click **OK.**

2. If deploying on your infrastructure, download the OVA and deploy
  1. [https://download.expedient.com/ctera/vGateway-7.2.2100.14.ova](https://download.expedient.com/ctera/vGateway-7.2.2100.14.ova)
    1. Username: expedient
    2. Password: publ1c
3. Configure the appropriate vCPU, vRAM, and SSD VMDK resources
  1. The template will be deployed with 4 vCPU and 8GB of vRAM by default
  2. No cache drive will be deployed by default. Manually add a drive of the desired size.

## Configure the vGateway

1. **Power On** the new vGateway and open a **VM Console**
2. **Login** to the vGateway
3. Configure the Network Adapter
  1. Select **1. Network Settings**
  2. Select **Static IP Mode or DHCP Mode**

  4. Confirm the configuration and select **OK**
4. Select **2 Restart** to reboot the filer and select **OK** to confirm
5. You can now access the filer via a **web browser** at **https://<IP Address>**
6. Accept the certificate warnings and proceed to the configuration page
7. **Configure** the Local Administrator account on the filer and select **Save**
  1. Username:    **admin**
  2. Password:     ***random***
  3. Email:            **Email to Receive Alerts**

9. Enter the **Portal Address** and select **Next**
  1. This value will be ***portalname*.efs.expedient.cloud** ![](https://cdn.document360.io/69e9f9c7-5da8-45e7-a671-4b8287f36122/Images/Documentation/image-1620048041775.png)
  2. The ***portalname*** value is unique to your deployment and will be static across your environment.
10. **Sign In** to the portal by entering the **Portal Service Account** and clicking **Next.**

11. Select **Next** through the licensing screen

12. Ensure that the **Gateway Mode** is set to **Caching** and select **Next** **![](https://cdn.document360.io/69e9f9c7-5da8-45e7-a671-4b8287f36122/Images/Documentation/image-1620048041886.png)**
13. Verify the appropriate drive has been detected as the **Cache Drive** and select **Next**

14. Verify the storage recommendations and select **Next**

15. If you wish to have the filer **joined to a domain,** enter the appropriate information and select **Next.** Otherwise, select **Skip**
  1. The filer will be joined as a computer to the domain, and this account must have permission to join objects to the domain

16. Select **Finish** to complete the Gateway Setup

17. Reconfigure the **Default Shares**
  1. Select **Share**, then **Shares**

  2. Select **Public** and then select **Remove Share** and confirm the deletion

  3. If you are using **Windows ACLs, the default Admin Share must be reconfigured**
    1. Select **Cloud** and then choose **Edit Share** **![](https://cdn.document360.io/69e9f9c7-5da8-45e7-a671-4b8287f36122/Images/Documentation/image-1620048042119.png)**
    2. Keep the default selection and select **Next** on the first and second menus
    3. Reconfigure the Sharing Protocols
      1. Windows File Sharing:    **Windows ACL Emulation Mode**
      2. Block Extensions:             **None**
      3. Client-Side Caching:        **Disabled**
      4. FTP:                                  **Disabled**
      5. Search:                             **Disabled**

    4. Select **Next**
    5. Leave NFS disabled and select **Next**
    6. Configure the share permissions
      1. **Remove** the **Everyone** permission set with the **trash can icon**
      2. **Add** the **Domain Administrator** or similar client administrator group into the permissions set

    7. Select **Finish**
18. Check that the **vGateway has synced** with Portal
  1. Select **Cloud Drive,** then **Cloud Drive**
  2. **Verify All Synced** is shown; you may need to **Unsuspend** or **Refresh**

19. Repeat steps 1-18 as required for additional vGateway deployments
20. Consult the **vGateway Advanced Configuration** section and the documentation contained within for different vGateway configurations that may be required
