Expedient offers the EEW Onboarding Service through a partner with many years of Windows desktop optimization experience, including expertise in a Horizon/VDI environment.

 

This On-Boarding service drives the successful implementation of Expedient Enterprise Workspace by laying a stable foundation and educating deployment teams on common VDI-related issues. Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) represents a significant shift for most environments and new techniques are required for success. Our partner’s VDI experts will help you avoid common pitfalls that negatively affect user experience and the success of your project. As part of the service, they will focus on the following topics:


  • Licensing - Validate existing and purchased licensing to ensure compatibility and compliance
  • Application Rationalization - Validate application catalog for compatibility and identify potential project risks
  • User Experience - Provide guidance on creating a consistent user experience with a focus on typical problem areas such as GPOs and user profiles
  • Endpoint Management - Ensure that users have the correct devices, software, and knowledge to connect to the Expedient-hosted environment
  • Image Maintenance - Develop your process and procedures for maintaining VDI images
  • Rollout Strategy - Plan the strategy for implementing VDI based on your project plan and desired outcomes

 

Expected Outcomes/Deliverables


  • Application list for deployment including licensing, deployment plan, and any expected project risks per application included in the outcome document.
  • User experience plan including GPO design recommendations, recommended user profile plan, and endpoint strategy included in the outcome document.
  • Firsthand patching / application maintenance training with the deployment of a gold image and an associated pool. Image best practice guidance is included in the outcome document.
  • Coordination with the project team to add dates and durations to the end user compute section of the Expedient project and noted in the outcome document

 

Delivery Methodology


  • One remote session with our partner's VDI Architect to prepare the deployment plan and gather the environmental information for documentation and consumption during the deployment. A document containing the discovered information will be provided at the end of the engagement.
  • Up to eight 1-hour remote assistance instances with our partner's engineers to provide support and training during implementation. Suggested topics include.
    • GPO creation/editing
    • Gold Image publishing
    • Profile management configuration
  • One post-activity session with our partner's team and leadership to review the activities and outcome document. This is an opportunity to identify any areas where post-onboarding assistance is required.
