How-to Restore Files and Folders to Your Desktop

Introduction

Restoration of individual files and/or folders should be utilized when a smaller subset of data is needed for restore. Through the native HTML5 GUI on Cloud Data Protection these files can be downloaded directly to your local machine. This recovery method is extremely useful when restoring individual files or folders at the request of an end user. 

Procedure

1. Login to the respective Cloud Data Protection system
2. From the navigation bar at the top of the page, select the Data Protection → Recoveries tab
    
   
3. Select the Recover button and then Files or Folders
    
   
4. Utilize the search utility to locate the file(s) and/or folder(s) to be restored
   1. You can search by either the name of the file or by the path of the file
   2. Wildcards and partial names are supported
      
      
   3. Click the desired file or folder to restore and choose the snapshot you wish to recover from
       
      
   4. Select Download Now 
      1. If you are restoring a single file the download will begin automatically in your browser
      2. If you are restoring a single folder a recovery task will begin 
         1. Upon selecting Download Now you will be presented a message stating a recovery task has been created, select Click here to be redirected to the task
             
            
   5. If you wish to download multiple files or folders in a single task, select Add More until you have selected all the files you wish to restore, then select Download Now
5. Utilize the Browse or Specify path option to search by a path 
   1. Search by the name of the server or the protection job
   2. Wildcards and partial names are supported
      
      
   3. Click the desired source to explore the file system
   4. Utilize the File Explorer to locate the files you wish to recover
      
      
   5. Once you have located the file select Download File 
      1. The download will begin automatically in your browser
6. Larger downloads or recoveries that generate a recovery task may take several minutes to become available. The Recovery Overview page can be accessed by selecting the Protection → Recovery tab if you have not yet been redirected there. Uf the recovery task is still in progress the screen will appear as below
    
   
7. Select Download Files to download the files in .zip format
    
   
8. Upon success of the restore you will have a either a .zip file containing the restored data or the restored file in your Downloads directory for your browser
