Overview:
The IBM DB2 module is installed via the Commvault console after the Commvault File System Agent is installed and configured. If the servers are configured in a cluster, please note the details about the configuration in the SMC ticket that corresponds with this work effort.
Version & Requirements:
http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=2893_2.htm
System Requirements - IBM DB2 iDataAgent
Security & Permissions:
Expedient requires a DB2 user with SYSADM, SYSCTRL, or SYSMAINT and DBADM privileges to run backup and restore operations.
Disk Space:
- 2 GB minimum disk space is required for software installation.
- 256 MB is required for the job result directory.
- 256 MB is required for the log directory.
Data Set:
Backups include the following data:
NOTE: The Commvault File System Agent will be leveraged to back up the DB2 application files that are associated with the DB2 installation.
- DB2 database objects
- DB2 history files
- DB2 archive log files
Special Considerations:
The following paths must be manually created on the server prior to the Commvault DB2 module installation:
NOTE: If the DB2 Instance is clustered, these directories must be created on a shared disk; otherwise, they can be created on any disk with sufficient free space.
- \Commvault_Backups\Audit_Error
- \Commvault_Backups\Logs
- \Commvault_Backups\Retrieve
The following DB2 parameters must updated for Expedient to configure and protect the DB2 database(s) with Commvault:
- LOGARCHMETH1
Use this parameter to specify the Commvault library that will be used to archive and manage the DB2 database log files. - LOGARCHOPT1
Use this parameter to enable the DB2 to communicate with Commvault storage system during the Log archive and retrieve operations. - VENDOROPT – vendor
Use this parameter to enable the DB2 to communicate with Commvault storage system during backup, restore, or load copy operations. - TRACKMOD
Enable this parameter to allow the incremental/delta backups.
In order for Commvault to load its Media Library for Data Protection, the DB2 instance must be restarted post Commvault DB2 module installation.
