Overview:

SharePoint backups are designed to protect all SharePoint components. Please provide detailed information about the SharePoint farm in the Additional Notes section. For example: Standalone farm or distributed farms, if distributed please list front end and backend server. The SharePoint module is installed via the Commvault console after the windows agent is installed and configured.

System Requirements - SharePoint Server iDataAgent

 

Disk Space:

  • 708 MB minimum hard disk space for installing the software. 
  • 500 MB of free disk space is required for log directory. 
  • An appropriate amount of temporary space must be allotted in the Job Results folder to accommodate staging of the SharePoint Service Application Databases, Site Collections and subsites. Calculated based on the size of the largest Service Application Database, 5 largest site collections and 5 largest subsites in the Farm.  

                 

Security & Permissions: 

  • Local administrative rights
  • FARM administrator rights
  • SP Shell administrator permissions
  • Full control under Policy for Web Application for every Web Application
  • SQL System Admin Server Role for the instance where SharePoint Databases resides
  • Site Administrator permissions for all Site Collections

 

Advance Vendor Information:

The SQL module will be installed as well on the server that holds the SharePoint databases please refer to Microsoft SQL backups for requirements.

 

Special Consideration for SharePoint Server 2016:

For SharePoint Document backup set, Commvault supports only full backups. Incremental backups are not supported because incremental export of the site content is failing. Commvault has opened a ticket with Microsoft to get this issue fixed.

If you must run incremental backups, you can upgrade to the SharePoint Server 2016 September cumulative update version.
