Overview:
Exchange Mailbox backups allow granular restores without restoring a whole database. You will install the Exchange Mailbox module via the Commvault console. Mailbox backups are not included by default with Exchange database backups.
Requirements:
A server other than the Exchange server must act as a proxy server. Outlook 2013 SP1 (32 or 64-bit, depending on the versioning of Exchange) must be installed on a minimum of two proxy servers.
Proxy servers must be members of the same domain as the Exchange server. Proxy servers must be Windows 2012 R2 with 4 Cores and 8GB RAM. You must apply all Windows and Outlook updates before initial backup.
Version & System Requirements:
System Requirements for Exchange Mailbox iDataAgent found within Commvault documentation.
Security & Permissions:
A minimum of two service accounts will be required, and it must be a member of the Local Admin and Organization Management groups. If multiple Active Directory domains are in use, these service accounts should have access to all domains. Each service account must have an associated Exchange mailbox of its own.
Special Considerations:
Due to the nature of how you can configure exchange Mailbox backups and how they're performed, Expedient does NOT support monthly cloning. However, Synchronous cloning is an option if cloning is required.
