Overview:
Oracle database backups can be performed using the Commvault module. The Oracle database module will be installed via the Commvault console.
Requirements:
- Oracle Group name
- Oracle Instance name
- Connection string (Connection string being the username, password and location)
- Oracle Home path
- Database must be in ARCHIVELOG mode for default backup strategy detailed below

Disk Space:
- 1 GB of minimum disk space is required for install the software.
- 256 MB of free disk space is required for the job result directory.
- 256 MB of free disk space is required for log directory.
Defaults:
The default backup strategy is to backup all online databases and the Oracle control file. Once the Archive Log backup completes, it will be deleted. Additional Oracle backup requirements with RMAN scripts, please include the details in the Expedient SMC ticket.
Security & Permissions:
- The Oracle Agent requires an operating system account and an Oracle user account. Configure both accounts to allow access to the Oracle application and Oracle target database.
- For Windows deployments, the user must be part of the ora_dba group with read and write permissions on the Commvault folder.
- An Oracle user account with the SYSDBA or SYSBACKUP (in Oracle version 12 or higher) privilege can access the Oracle target database.
