vGateway Configuration Backup and Recovery

You can schedule automated backups every 24 hours within the vGateway and perform manual backups at any point in time. These configuration backups will include Active Directory, Shares, SNMP, etc., and are beneficial if a vGateway must be rebuilt.

Schedule an Automatic Configuration Backup

  1. Log in to the vGateway.
  2. Select Cloud Backup and then Control Panel
  3. In the Control Panel, click 'Configure it now.'
  4. Within the wizard that pops up, leave the default 'Automatically generate...' and click Next.
  5. Click Finish on the completed wizard.
  6. Next, under Backup Files, uncheck all files/folders and click Save.

  7. Next, under the Cloud Backup tab, find and click Schedule
  8. Ensure the Schedule is set to run every 24 hours

Perform a Manual Configuration Backup

  1. Log in to the vGateway
  2. Select System and then Configuration Tools
  3. Select Export
  4. A download prompt will then open. Download the configuration.
     
  5. Ensure the backup file is placed in a safe, accessible location outside of the filer if being utilized for DR or other recovery scenarios

Restore from a Manual Configuration Backup

  1. Log in to the vGateway
  2. Select System and then Configuration Tools
  3. Select Import
  4. A prompt will then open. Select the configuration file you wish to recover.
     
  5. Reboot the filer
  6. The vGateway configuration has been recovered to the state of the configuration backup.
    It may take up to 5 minutes for the vGateway to complete its metadata sync from the Portal. The Global File System will not be accessible until this operation completes.
