Article summary

Introduction

In Cohesity, Microsoft 365 applications are protected using a Protection Group and a Protection Policy. A Protection Group enables you to select and group the objects you want to back up. It uses the schedules and settings defined in the Protection Policy to determine when and how backups are captured and replicated.

A Protection Policy is a group of settings defining the backup, backup schedule, and backup snapshot retention. You can select which policy to use when creating a Protection Group. Also, for Disaster Recovery, you can add replication for the Protection Group using the Protection Policy.

Due to the 5000 objects per protection job limit, you may need more than one protection job for larger environments.

Please note that adding new or updating existing Protection Policies is the sole responsibility of Expedient due to the multitenant nature of the Cohesity platform. The same is true for Storage Domains.
