Expedient Enterprise Workspace - How to Install the Horizon Agent

The Horizon Agent is installed on a VM template as part of it's preparation so it can be converted into a golden image for use as a virtual desktop. It is installed with an executable installer that must be downloaded, and a simple wizard which guides you through the process. During the installation wizard, you will be presented with the ability to install optional services that will tailor the VM for your use case. Installing this agent is required, but many of the available services are optional. This article will guide you through the process of installing the Horizon Agent.

The VMware Horizon Agent installer must first be presented to the VM template you want to install it on. Expedient can provide this installer upon request.

The correct agent installer must be ran on the version of Windows 10 that is running on the VM template. https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/70965

Once the agent installer has been downloaded, double-click the installer to open the wizard. Click on "Configure"

When you are presented with options to install features, please leave the defaults and review further if any additional services need to be installed.

NOTE: If this will be a non-persistent desktop, you MUST ensure the "Instant Clone" option is checked.

It is recommended to leave the defaults in place, and to also enable the "Horizon Performance Tracker" option.

Once the installation is completed, restart the VM to finish the installation.
