Article Summary

Overview: 

The Exchange Database module is installed via the Commvault console after installing and configuring the Windows agent. If the server is configured in High Availability Clusters or Database Availability Groups (DAG), please provide specifics on the architecture in the Additional Notes section. 

All Exchange databases are included by default. If you only need specific databases backed up or excluded, provide the information in the Additional Notes section.  

As databases are added or removed, open a ticket with the OSC to verify the changes to the environment.

 

Exchange Database backups include the following components:        

  • Information Stores
  • Public Folder Stores
  • Transaction Logs 

Version & Requirements:

System Requirements for Microsoft Exchange Database iDataAgent listed in Commvault documentation.

 

Requested Information in Workbook:

  • Exchange Server Version and Service Pack
  • Number of Exchange Databases and Size (GB)
  • Number of Mailboxes (users & resources)


Expedient Recommended Disk Space:

  • 1 GB of disk space available on the C:\ drive
  • Minimum 500 MB of free disk space is required for the job result directory.
  • Minimum 500 MB of free disk space is required for the log directory.

 

Security & Permissions:

 In some cases, a service account will be required. If so, it must be a Member of Local Admin and Organization Management groups.

 

Advanced Vendor Information:

Circular logging must be disabled to allow Incremental backups to run.
