Setting up DR on a Source Cluster

If you’re utilizing Expedient as a target for disaster recovery and maintain ownership over the source cluster, there are several steps you will need to take to configure your site to begin replication.

Site Pairing

1. Log into Prism Central on your existing source cluster.

2. Select the drop-down menu and navigate "Administration" -> "Availability Zones".

3. Click "Connect to Availability Zone"

4. Fill in the following information:

• Availability Zone: Select “Physical Location”

You will receive the following information from Expedient:

• IP address for Remote PC: <IP Address>

• Username: admin

• Password: <admin password>

5. Save, and verify the zone was created.

Enable Disaster Recovery

1. Log into Prism Central on your source environment.

2. Select the drop-down menu and navigate "Data Protection" -> "Protection Policies".

3. If the option is available, click "Enable DR". If it is not, skip this step and go to the next.

4. Click "Create Protection Policies".

Create Protection Policies

To start replication, you will need to create a protection policy to protect your VMs. While logged into the Prism Central of your source environment, please follow this KB here:

Important Step

You will need to add your VMs to a category before the protection policy will pick them up.

Create Networking for Recovery Plans

Before you can create recovery plans, you need to configure the recovery cluster.

All compute and storage work has been completed for you by your service delivery Engineer at Expedient, but you will need to log in and verify/create the target networks in Prism Central.
